James 'Jim' Arneson

James "Jim" Arneson, 87, formerly of Glasgow, Mont., passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016, at Laurel Health and Rehabilitation in Laurel, Mont.

He was born in Feb. 2, 1929, to John and Amanda (Nordlund) Arneson Sr, in Glasgow. He was raised on a farm in Opheim, Mont., and graduated from Opheim High School. He served three years in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1949. He went on to graduate with a bachelor's degree in speech and hearing from the University of Washington.

In December of 1952, he married Gloria Miskoski in Seattle, Wash. While the couple lived in Seattle, he started his teaching career that would span nearly 50 years.

He loved his work and spending time with his family. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, John Arneson, Fordie Lewis and Hubert Doug Arneson; two sisters, Arlene Larson and her husband, Gordon, and Marion Dunn and her husband, Troy.

Survivors include four children, Peggy Cassity and her husband, George, of Port Orchard, Wash., Lezlie Ito and her husband, Takao of Nagoya, Japan, Mark Arneson and his wife, Charlotte, of Glasgow, and Jon Arneson and his wife, Melanie, of Laurel; a sister-in-law, Dorean Arneson; numerous grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Dad should be with Gordie, Arlene, T, Marion, Doug and Joann planning their next great adventure.

Visitation was held Sunday, July 10, from 4-6 p.m. at Bell Mortuary in Glasgow. Funeral services were held Monday, June 11, at 1 p.m. at Bell Mortuary with Bonnie Novak officiating, followed by burial in the Highland Cemetery.
