On the morning of Wednesday, June 15, 2016, E. Jurenne (Poe) Fuchs, 71, passed away at St. Peters hospital in Helena, Mont.
She was born in Townsend, Mont., on Dec. 27, 1944, to Lawrence B. and Margaret H. Poe.
She graduated from Opheim High School in 1963. She briefly attended Montana State University, before moving back to northeast Montana.
On June 7, 1964, she married Donald E. Fuchs at the Methodist Church in Townsend. They resided in Richland, Mont., until Donald's passing in 1989.
She and Donald farmed and ranched while Donald managed the Richland Cenex. She enjoyed gardening and driving a local mail route. Together they had farm land, beef cattle, registered quarter horses, raised chickens and planted large garden areas. After Donald's passing, she moved back to Townsend, and worked odd jobs until receiving her associates degree in accounting and began her career at the Office of Public Instruction in Helena.
She continued her love of animals and gardening while living in Townsend. She adopted many family members from the Humane Society. She loved spending time in the mountains or at the lake camping and fishing. She was well known for her gardens and meticulous flower beds. She loved her fruit trees, vegetables, flowers and sharing the spoils of her labor with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Fuchs; her parents, Lawrence and Margaret Poe; one son, Roger Fuchs; and one daughter, Dawn Fuchs.
Survivors include one son, John Fuchs of Townsend; one daughter, Susan Pitcher and her husband, Scott; three grandchildren, Tylor, Talyn and Zach of Willow Creek, Mont; and one brother, Loyd Poe and his wife, Donna, of Cut Bank. She has left behind many close family and friends, including Denise Nielsen and her daughters, Jaysen and Corie.
Her family appreciated the innumerous friends, neighbors and family who helped care for her while she battled cancer and illness. There are too many helpful angels to list, but please know, we are grateful for each of you. Mom appreciated all of your help, time, rides and love.

A celebration of life was held at the Stevenson Wilke Funeral home in Townsend at 11 a.m., Monday, June 20. Burial was at the Deep Creek Cemetery.
