Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Barbara Jean Hatcher

Barbara Jean (Carswell) Hatcher, 70, of Glasgow, Mont., passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital.

She was born Dec. 24, 1945, in Glasgow, to Cameron W. Carswell and Susie Penner. She was a hard worker and she took pride in everything she did. She worked at the Milk River Activity Center with Doyle Euell. She was Doyle's first graduate. She began working in the laundry at Valley View Home and later went to the Cottonwood Inn. She retired from the Cottonwood Inn after 25 years as a housekeeper and the janitorial shift. She was always early for her shifts, without fail, even though she always walked to work no matter the weather. She had a hard life but made the best of every situation. She always had a smile and said something funny to make you smile. She was strong, generous (except with her Pepsi), loving, kind and supportive. She considered everyone family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Billy; and a granddaughter, Morgan Jean Hatcher.

Survivors include one son, Larry Hatcher and his wife, Suzanne; one daughter, Billie Jo Hatcher; three sisters, Margie, Bonny and Cheryl; five brothers, Bill, Kenneth, Clifford, Stephen and Daryl; four grandchildren, Brenden, Jordan, Alexandria and Aurianna; numerous nieces and nephews; and the many, many friends in Glasgow.

Barb you will be loved and missed and in all our hearts forever. We know you are "FINE."

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 30, at the Assembly of God Church in Glasgow. Visitation was held at Bell Mortuary on Sunday, May 29, from 12-6 p.m. with family receiving friends from 4-6 p.m. A sharing service was held at 5 p.m. Condolences can be left at bellmortuarymontana.com.
