Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Take me out to the ball game! As you may or may not know, the Glasgow Reds’ American Legion Baseball program was donated 26 acres of land just west of the old BLM building (now Big Sky Auto Accessories) on Hwy. 2 for a new Legion field. The current field located at Sullivan Park has had issues with flooding, contaminated water and, many, many more problems. It is safe to say the community is due for an upgrade. This new parcel of property will not only be big enough for a new Legion field, but an entire complex, with possibly up to four new fields. The committee needs your help in envisioning a new multi-purpose park to include the new American Legion field, a new Babe Ruth field, a practice field, a regulation Girls’ High School Softball field, and (some are thinking), possibly, a new pool.
Committee members are desperately needed (especially those with small school-age children – ages 5 and up – because your kids will be the ones playing on the new fields in the next 5-10 years). Also, Legion, Babe Ruth and softball parents, former players, officials and even fans should participate in this process. Anyone that can envision a first-rate, high-quality recreational complex that will make us proud.
The public is invited to help contribute to the future of Glasgow. The next meeting will take place at the Elk’s Club Wednesday, April 25, at 7 p.m.
