Harvey "Lloyd" Jones

Harvey "Lloyd" Jones, 83, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016, at his home in Hinsdale, Mont.

A visitation will be held Thursday, May 12, from 4-8 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Hinsdale. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 13, at 10 a.m. at the Hinsdale High School, with Pastor Howard Pippin officiating, followed by burial at Hillview Cemetery in Hinsdale. A luncheon will follow burial.

He was born on Oct. 16, 1932, to Harvey and Marion (Gaasch) Jones, in Hinsdale, Mont. He married Evelyn Weed Sept. 26, 1953, in Big Fork, Mont. They had four children; Debbi, Lorri, Michael and Chuck. Evelyn was the love of his life for 62 years.

At 8 years old, he stayed at the dugout for six weeks with Albert Chesterson, scattering bulls and keeping the strays out. His summers were spent up north riding with the "old cowboys."

He spent two years in Big Fork working as a logger for his father-in-law. He worked at the Glasgow Air Force Base as a masonry concrete foreman until the base closed in 1968. He then became a carpenter until he was able to pursue his lifelong dream of being a rancher. He graduated from Hinsdale High School in 1952, was an avid Raider fan and attended all eight state tournaments the Raiders ever played in.

He loved ranching, gardening, his grandchildren, sports and telling old-time stories.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey (Leona) Jones; mother, Marion (Johnny) Porteen; special parents, Bob and Alice McElvain and Frank Lock; and borhters-in-law, Flick Flickinger and Stan Christianson.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Debbi Sjostrom and Lorri Palm and her husband Corby; sons, Michael Jones and his wife, Teresa, and Chuck Jones and his wife, Angie; grandchildren Kipp Sjostrom, Amy Sjostrom and her husband, Brian, Cody Palm and his wife, Tina; Josh Palm and his wife, Miranda; JoLysa Jones, Hannah Jones, Jade Jones, Wrangler Jones, Ryder Jones, LaynaJones, A'Aligha Jones, Nikiyah Jones, Milo Jones, Taz Jones and his wife, Kendra, Cierra Jones and her husband, Jeff, Savannah Staley and her husband, Austin, Jacob Jones and his wife, Lexie, and Evie Jones; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Agnes Mogan and her husband, John, Dorothy Hickinger, Opal Rosendahl and her husband, Jay, Joan Dimsdale and her husband, Jim, Alma Hering and her husband, Terry, and Julanne Gauger; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
