Porcupines Host Meet, Set PRs

Scotties Have Strong Showing

The Nashua Porcupines hosted their invitational track meet at Scottie Field on Friday.

With only six athletes competing, the Nashua girls placed sixth and the boys placed tenth.

Nashua sophomore Taylor Laumeyer placed in five events, taking fourth in the 1600m run with a time of 6:37.25, sixth in the long jump with a distance of 12' 10", second in the shot put with a throw of 30' 04" and second in the javelin with a toss of 99' 09". Laumeyer capped off her day with a first place finish in the discus with a throw of 85' 03".

Gunner Greene contributed by placing in three running events: the 100m dash (2nd – 12.61), the 200m dash (3rd – 26.78), and the 400m dash (4th – 62.05). Greene also achieved a PR in the javelin at the meet.

Nolan Viste secured 5th place in the triple jump with a jump of 33' 00 ½", which was also a PR for the Nashua junior. In addition, Viste threw a PR in the javelin.

Taylor Padden was the third Porcupine to set a PR when he bested his previous throw in the discus.

The Nashua tracksters are scheduled to compete in Fairview on Thursday, followed by the Scottie Qualifier on Monday, April 18. You can also catch the Junior High meet on Saturday in Glasgow, where 22 teams are expected to compete.

Glasgow

For those Scottie athletes that weren't satisfied with their results in Havre on Wednesday, the Nashua Invitational was an opportunity for a second chance.

Disappointed with missing the event altogether in Havre, junior Jordan Kulczyk managed to secure first place in the javelin with a throw of 100' 03".

Also taking another shot at one of her events was Leinie Hughes. On the heels of the meet in Havre and a 33' 2" heave that earned her second place, Hughes climbed one spot with a barely better throw of 33' 3".

The pole vault was a busy event for Glasgow athletes, and was dominated by the Scottie boys, who placed top five out of six for the day: 1 – Chase Hughes, 10' 06"; 2 – Logan Gunderson, 9' 00"; 3 – Walker Allen, 8' 06"; 4 – Cody King, 8' 06"; Kyle Ross, 8' 00".

The Lady Scotties placed four in the top six with two sets of ties. Alex Simensen and Katie Kaiser tied for third with a vault of 7' 06", and Kaylee King and Brinlie Nielsen tied for sixth with a vault of 6' 00".

K. King earned first place in the 300m hurdles with a time of 56.61, Andrea Hansen placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 81' 02", and Kaiser secured fifth place in the javelin with a toss of 83' 11".

Hinsdale/Whitewater/Saco

The tri-cities of Hinsdale, Whitewater, and Saco were represented well by a number of athletes. In the 100m dash, Hannah Anderson of Whitewater placed fifth with a time of 15.32. Crossing the finish line just behind her was Casity Boucher of Hinsdale with a time of 15.59.

John McColly (Hinsdale) placed in four events on Friday: 4 – 200m dash, 27.17; 3 – 110m hurdles, 19.38; 3 – 300m hurdles, 49.81; 1 – long jump, 17' 03 1/2".

Chris DePuydt (Saco) snagged a place in three events: 5 – 200m dash, 27.30; 5 – 400m dash, 62.06; 3 – long jump, 16' 09 1/2".

Bailey Funk,(Saco) also placed three times: 2 – pole vault, 8' 00"; 1 – triple jump, 30' 04"; 1 – long jump, 13' 09 3/4".

Placing in four events for Whitewater was Trace Simonson: 1 – triple jump, 37' 00 1/2"; 1 – discus, 124' 05"; 4 – javelin, 140' 06"; 5 – shot put, 37' 10".

Trey Simanton (Whitewater) grabbed first place in the two hurdle events, running the 110m in 18.26, and the 300m in 49.96.

Kayleigh Cummings (Whitewater) placed third in the shot put, 29'11", and the javelin, 95' 02".

Cache Younkin (Hinsdale) grabbed sixth place in both the discus, 104' 05", and the javelin, 135' 07".

Isabella Lawless (Whitewater) placed sixth in the 800m run, 3:08.25; Romeo Benifla (Hinsdale) 6 – 3200m run, 18:49.79; Josh Salveson (Saco) 6 – pole vault, 7' 06"; Cody Scheffelmear (Whitewater) 6 – 300m hurdles, 50.66; Casity Boucher (Hinsdale) tie for fifth – shot put, 27' 05"; Mickayla Johnson (Hinsdale) 1 – 100m hurdles, 24.00.

Lustre Christian

For Lustre Christian, Joyce Li earned fifth in the 3200m run, 16:45.56, and Lane Murray placed fifth in the 800m run, 2:39.73.

Frazer

The Bearcub boys represented Frazer well, with four athletes grabbing points at the meet. Saunder St. Marks took third place in the 400m dash, 62.04; Korbin Cole placed sixth in the 800m run, 2:42.85; Jayson Jackson placed second in the shot put with a throw of 39' 03".

Wyatt Miller left his mark in three separate events for the day: 4 – 1600m run, 5:25.22; 2 - 3200m run, 11:28.52; 6 - triple jump, 31' 11".

The high point scorers for the meet were: Owen Lepper of Wolf Point for the boys; 30 points, and Jaye Anderson of Turner for the girls; 34 points.
