Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Greg Gianforte, gubernatorial candidate for Montana, announced Phillips County commissioner and Malta area rancher Lesley Robinson as his running mate. Gianforte said of Robinson: "Lesley is a true, salt of the earth public servant. I'm looking forward to Lesley playing a vital role in our administration. You'd be hard pressed to find a stronger advocate for rural Montana."
Gianforte expressed that having Robinson as his running mate will provide a vital link between state government and county/local governments. Also, he expects she will be able to communicate well with the agriculture industry.
Lesley Robinson is a rancher born and raised in Malta, Mont., and has been ranching with her husband Jim's family in Zortman since 1985. She was first elected as commissioner in 2005, and has been serving Phillips County ever since.
Robinson serves as president of the Western Interstate Region Board within the National Association of Counties (NACo), as the Western Region representative on the NACo executive board, as vice chair of the NACo Public Lands Committee, as well as various other local boards and associations. Robinson said at the announcement: "Folks in rural Montana feel they have been forgotten or simply ignored. Residing in and serving as a county commissioner in rural Montana has taught me that we have unique challenges. I'm honored to join Greg Gianforte's team, and look forward to fighting for rural Montana as the next lieutenant governor."
