Glasgow Grapplers on to State

Scotties Place Nine at Divisionals; Four Advance

Moccasin Square Garden in Poplar was full of activity during the divisional B/C wrestling tournament on Saturday. Ten teams were represented by the best in their division and four from each weight class advanced to compete at the state tournament in Billings.

Glasgow finished fifth overall with 87 points – just after Baker (88) and just ahead of Forsyth (86).

Claiming the top spot on the podium in their classes for the Scotties were Gabe Hallock (103) with a pin against Baker's Dalton Lecoe, and Matt Reyling (113) with a 4-1 decision over Huntley Project's Kyle Schaff. Also moving on with a second-place finish was Mick Reyling (138), and a third-place finish with a pin, Cody King (145).

With a disappointing loss, Kasey Seyfert just missed the opportunity to move on with a fifth-place finish.

Also placing, but not high enough to make it to the upcoming tourney at the Metra were: Alex Hallock – sixth (160), Trevor Overvold – fifth (170), Terrick Sanders – sixth (182), and Jaden Hughes – sixth (205).

Other Scottie matmen appearing at divisionals were Mitchell Overvold, Darrin Wersal and Blaine Myrick.

According to a post on the Glasgow Scotties facebook page, G. Hallock and Matt Reyling became the 170th and 171st (respectively) divisional wrestling champions in school history. In addition, G. Hallock is the 13th Hallock to win a divisional title for the Scotties. Past winners: Milt Hallock, Craig Hallock, Byron Hallock, and Braden Hallock.

The wrestlers will weigh in at the state tourney 8 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, with the parade of athletes to follow at 10 a.m. First round matches will begin at 10:20.
