Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Nashua School art and creative writing teacher Tess Fahlgren is broadening her educational scope to include Glasgow with a new private class covering the fundamentals of basic drawing. Fahlgren graduated from UM in the spring and is in her first year of teaching now.
The course will take place Thursdays in February at Wheatgrass Arts and Gallery downtown. Prospective students are encouraged to sign up at the gallery or just show up Thursday night at 6 p.m. Limited drawing supplies will be available for purchase .
"It's really fun," Fahlgren explains. "I love to talk about art, help people with art, and generally think about and surround myself with art. I love to draw. Like most artists, I've been drawing since I could hold a pencil."
According to Fahlgren, her mother, Mary, of Wheatgrass Arts and Gallery, has been seeking to offer more classes at the gallery for a long time.
"My family is very creative," explains Tess. "My brother taught me drawing fundamentals, then through high school in Glasgow my art teacher Robert Miller taught us about line economy and proportion. Most importantly, he made us practice. In college I excelled in my drawing courses, especially in live figure drawing classes, in which we drew models.
A live drawing class is in the works for the future if students express an interest in more advance study. For more information, email [email protected] or call 230-0148. Classes are $30 per session.
