Jack D. Jensen

Jack D. Jensen, 80, passed away from natural causes on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at the Hi-Line Retirement Center in Malta, Mont.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2, in Hinsdale. Cremation has taken place.

He was born on June 9, 1935, on the family farm near Grenora, N.D., to Jens C. and Selma (Thoeny) Jensen, the last of 11 children.

He graduated from Hinsdale High School in 1953. He attended college in Bozeman for a short time before enlisting in the Army. He was honorably discharged.

He married Susan Nelson, and from this union they had three children. The family moved to Hinkley, Minn., where he worked for his father-in-law at the Farmers and Merchants State Bank.

In 1967, the family moved to Hinsdale where Jack managed The Montana Bar in Glasgow for his brother, Frank. He and Susan later divorced. In 1968 and he married Marilyne Matovich, and from this union he gained three step-children and then three sons were born. The family moved to Hinsdale where he worked various jobs. The next move was to Malta, where he farmed and ranched for his father-in-law, Martin Matovich. He also eventually studied for and passed his realtor's test and then worked for Vern Mangis Reality in Malta.

In 1976 they moved to Sleeping Buffalo and he and Marilyne managed the resort. They moved to Saco in 1989, where he resided until his move to the Hi-Line Retirement Center.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jack, Jr .; one grandson, Jeremy Monroe, one granddaughter, Vanessa Hoock; two sisters, Wilda (Bert) Osen, Ruth (Lester) Johnson; and eight brothers, Keith, Burril, Marlin, Gene (Joy), Frank (Alma), Donald (Louella), West (Donna), and Daniel (Francine).

Survivors include his wife, Marilyne; eight children, Jennifer and her husband, Scott, Burl and his wife, Rita, Robin and her husband, Gary, Michele and her husband, Chuck, Monte and his wife, Dana, Jess and his wife, Darlee, Marty and his wife, Anita, and Bart and his wife, Kay; 11 grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Tyler, Cole, Ireland, Logan, Sierra, Tell, Keegan, Derek and Jack; six great-grandchildren, Parker, Jack, Jett, Hunter, Harlee and Roz.
