Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Gerald 'Jerry' Bies

Gerald "Jerry" Bies, 82, our beloved dad, grandpa, uncle, brother-in-law and friend, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, Dec. 20, 2015.

Dad was born on May 2, 1933, in Montrose, S.D., to Edward and Mary (Fleming) Bies. He and his older brother, Jack, grew up in a loving home and had many great memories and stories of growing up "East of the river."

He joined the Air Force in 1953 and was in the Korean Conflict. He eventually was stationed in Opheim, a small town in northeastern Montana, to work at the Radar Site. There he met the love of his life, Evelyn Squires.

Jerry and Evie were married on Sept 27, 1958, in Glentana, Mont. During their 53 years of marriage, they had four children, all currently teachers. They were blessed with nine grandchildren. Dad taught us all to work hard, be kind to others, and to give praise to God, through his quiet, constant examples. Dad's highlight of the week would be to attend church at St. Bernard's Catholic Church every Sunday. A visit to Ace Hardware in the Heights was also on his list.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Evie; his brother, and step-granddaughter, Brenna Farley.

Survivors include children and their families: Rhoda (Pat) Scally, Chance and Micki (Levi) Sorge; Kenny (Christie) Bies, Jerred and Jonah; Joe (Jody) Bies, Jake (Laura), Austin, and Kareasa; and Jessie (John) Farley, Cody Cameron, Sage Pinkerton, Kacey, Tiegan and Jamisen; several wonderful sisters-in-law and families; numerous nieces, nephews and their families; dear friends Wedge and Roberta Stow; and many other wonderful friends that Dad knew and enjoyed throughout his 82 years.

A celebration of Dad's life will be held on June 30, 2016.

We love you, Papa, and know that you are in the loving arms of Jesus. Mom is smiling.

Arrangements are by Cremation & Funeral Gallery in Billings.

Condolences can be sent through http://www.cfgbillings.com through "Our Families."
