Glasgow Speech and Drama Delivers Solid Performances

Two weekends ago Glasgow Speech and Drama attended the 2nd annual Eastern Montana Kickoff Speech and Drama Meet at West High School in Billings. It is a massive meet with over 500 - all class competitors from all over eastern Montana. It served as a great motivator to get our participants fired up and going for the season. It also served as a powerful learning experience for our new competitors. All of our kids saw extremely solid competitions and got better each round.

We had particularly exceptional performances from Seniors Amber O'Mara making the final round in Humorous Oral Interpretation against a massive field, Mariah Holter, with a solid 5th place finish in a talent field of Mimes, and Morgan Miller with a dramatic first place finish in Serious Solo Drama.

As a coach I am excited to see how this years talented team will develop throughout the season.

That was followed by an off weekend in which my students sacrificed most of a day off from school to join their coaches for a series of intense practices under simulated competition conditions.

This weekend we attended another extremely competitive meet at Custer County High School in Miles City. I was extremely proud of the performances that our team delivered with two thirds of the team qualifying for the final round against some really stiff competition.

Morgan Miller competing in Serious Solo Drama finished in 4th. Amy Nelson, Memorized Public Address, and Max Knodel, Original Oratory, both finished 3rd in their events. Amber O'Mara, Humorous Oral Interpretation, and Eric Covall, Extemporaneous Speaking, both finished 5th in their events. Andy Brandt finished 7th in Original Oratory.
