Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Vet Clinic Open Despite Loss

In the wake of Doctor Russell J. Smith's passing, the Glasgow Veterinary Clinic consolidates its mettle to move forward.

"Its been a tragedy," said Shirley Siefert, "but we're working through it. It's one day at a time out here."

Dr. Smith was beloved by co-workers and customers alike. Though he served as the clinic's lone veterinarian, Siefert assures that business will continue as usual.

"We have a relief vet [erinarian] coming in to perform professional services: spays, neuters, teeth cleaning, sickness. We'll be open for both professional and retail services."

The savior in question is Dr. Cris Powell. A resident of Wyoming, Dr. Powell nevertheless is registered with the Montana Board of Veterinary Medicine. Her stay in Valley County will be temporary - Siefert says her term will last a month. Beyond that time, it remains unclear whether Powell will remain or move on, leaving the vacant role to be assumed by another.

"Like I said," Siefert sighed, "we're day to day out here. We'll continue to have relief vets as long as we need them."

"We appreciate our clients, and they appreciate us," Siefert said.

"We thank everyone for their support," Siefert said, "and we will continue to provide the best service we can with the resources we have."
