Glasgow Burns Bright Before Dawn

A fire struck South Glasgow on Monday, Oct. 12. Firefighters were summoned to the alley at 9th St. and 2nd Ave. So. at 4:20 a.m. in response to a three-garage conflagration.

While the men toiled to check the roaring flames, the garage across the street began to smoke. Georgie Kulczyk, who had awoken to the sharp static of the dispatch radio she keeps on her dresser and decided to hustle across town to witness the scene, alerted the men, and a group set to work stifling the blaze.

The situation was soon tamed – though not prior to the four abandoned structures' atrophy from semi-sturdy sheds to charred kindling. No parties were injured.

"Until it gets investigated, there's not much I can say," said Brandon Brunelle, one of the eighteen volunteers. "I'll tell you there's the thought that it originated from possibly suspicious activity. But again, until further investigation, it's all speculation."
