Scotties Stay Undefeated in Conference
Homecoming weekend produced a lot of action and some mixed results for the GHS volleyball team.
On Oct. 1 they hosted class A Sidney, a school that hasn't been on the schedule in years past. As expected, Sidney proved to be a very well-trained, well-rounded team. The volleys were action-packed and both teams experienced swings in momentum, but it was the Eagles who ultimately brought more aggressive offense and blocking to the floor that night, taking the Scotties in three sets 20-25, 23-25, 19-25.
Saturday afternoon the gym was packed with a wonderful mix of GHS homecoming fervor as the Saskatoon Police Pipe and Drums performed before the start of the varsity match, awing the crowd with their classic music and dancing, then fans of both teams started to fire up for the match. The referee's whistle opened the first volley, pitting the Wolf Point Wolves against the Scotties. Top defensive action from both teams, punctuated by a diverse Scottie offense, electrified the crowd. The gym was rocking!
For the first two sets, neither team backed down. It wasn't until games three and four that the Scotties settled into a stronger, more confident offensive routine and enjoyed some very solid serving, keeping the Wolves scrambling and falling short at the end of the day. Final scores were 20-25, 26-24, 25-12, 25-12.
