Wayne E. Shipp, 53, loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, went on wings of angels to be with our Lord, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and friends on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015.
He was born Jan. 2, 1962, in Glasgow to Lloyd and Theresa (DeBray) Shipp. He attended Glasgow Schools and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1980. He married his soulmate, Lori Orahood, on July 19, 1986, in Malta. The couple was blessed with four children, Wyatt, Joe, Erika and Della. Erika married Cody Hanson July 26, 2014 and the most recent addition to his family, the one that made his eyes light up, was his granddaughter, Chloe.
Wayne, a life-long rancher north of Glasgow, was very active in the Glasgow community. He loved to help others and was enthusiastic about 4-H, high school wrestling, photography, learning to play the banjo, and was an avid athlete. He was an inspiration to many with his encouragement to others through his actions and beliefs. He participated in the Spartan Race six weeks after having major surgery following his cancer diagnosis. He participated several times in the "Longest Dam Race," most recently running a 10K and biking 10 miles. All of the people at "Just For Kicks" held a very special place in his heart.
He was a member of Valley County Farm Bureau and the Montana Farm Bureau Federation where he held several offices. He was a brand inspector for several years and he went on to graduate from the Montana Law Enforcement Academy to become a district livestock investigator. He received the Governor's Award for his investigative work. Most recently he retired from the Valley County Sheriff's Department where he was a deputy and member of the SWAT Team. Upon retirement, he received the Daniel R. Taylor Sherriff's Star Award.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Shipp; paternal grandparents George and Betsy Shipp; and maternal grandparents Leo and Pauline DeBray.
Survivors include his loving wife, Lori Shipp; four children, Wyatt, Joe, Erika Hanson and her husband, Cody, and Della; one granddaughter, Chloe Hanson; his mother, Theresa Shipp; siblings, Jaylein Nickles and her husband, Lester, Patty Geer and her husband, Dan, Doyle Shipp and his wife, Coleen, and Rosalie Spinler and her husband, Greg; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Family received friends from 6-7 p.m., followed by a Wake at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Bell Mortuary. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow, with Pastor Scott Hedegaard officiating. Burial followed at the Shipp Ranch north of Glasgow.
