Ann (Pankratz) Kuebler, 96, of Elgin, N.D., passed from this life on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the Jacobson Memorial Hospital Care Center in Elgin.
She was born on Sept. 4, 1918, in Vida, Mont., to Robert and Elizabeth (Schock) Pankratz. She grew up on a farm near Vida where her parents homesteaded. She attended a local country school and Schillinger High School. She worked at various jobs following her schooling, including Steele's Hospital (Maternity Home). During WWII, she moved to Seattle, Wash., where she worked at Boeing Aircraft as a welder.
She was united in marriage to Herman Kuebler on Aug. 15, 1936, at Wolf Point. They owned and operated several grocery stores over the years, mostly in California. In 1968, they moved to Saco. Born to this union were seven children. Herman passed away on Dec. 14, 2003. Ann then moved to Elgin following his death.
She enjoyed sewing and crafting as well as getting together for family dinners.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and eight siblings.
Surviving family members include five daughters: Dorothy Courtway, Maxine Doughty and Donna Sutton, all of Elgin, Sandra Kuebler-Riggs of Great Falls, and Barbara Brookie of Saco; two sons: Robert Kuebler of Elgin, and Charles Kuebler of California; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Stella Breitmeier of Harlem, and Elizabeth Derbyshire of Havre.
The graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 20, at the Vida Cemetery at Vida.
