Four Swimmers Bring Home High Point Honors
The Glasgow Kiwanis Thunder achieved another strong finish at the Malta swim meet this past weekend. After placing third at the first meet of the season in Harlem two weeks ago, they moved up a notch and brought home a second-place trophy. The team doubled in size from last week as 24 swimmers attended the meet. Out of 76 event entries, Glasgow scored top three in 26 of them. The team struggled however, in their usually strong relays, with three out of the seven relays being disqualified.
Individually, the swimmers did well, with almost all competitors cutting time in their races. Four swimmers earned high point trophies in their age groups: Dalton Sand (Midget), Trevor Johnson (Junior), Jordan Billingsley (Intermediate), and Katie Kaiser (Intermediate). These four swimmers had some incredible swims on Saturday ensuring their high point victories. Overall the team has improved a lot within a two-week period and the coaches are looking forward to seeing these swimmers progress in each of their events.
This weekend, Glasgow will be hosting their own meet. It is typically well attended by other towns, so we expect close to 300 swimmers to be here. Everyone is encouraged to come out and watch the action. The meet will start at 10:00 on Saturday and Sunday.
