Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Conrad Rastad Tvedt, 91, met his Lord and Savior face to face on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, in Phoenix, Ariz. It was a day he had been preparing for his whole life.
He was born on Dec. 5, 1923, to Lars and Selma Tvedt in Mitchell, S.D. He attended South Dakota State University before enlisting in the Army Air Corps where he graduated as a pilot and served as a flight instructor of West Point Cadets. He later retired as an Air Force Reserve Major.
He married his beloved wife, Patricia (Vaughn), on April 20, 1952, after she captured his heart while singing in the church choir in Minneapolis, Minn. They raised their family in Glasgow, where he was a banker and a rancher for 27 years. They moved to Great Falls before relocating to Sun City West, Ariz., where he often described his days as "blessed and highly favored."
He was continually active in each community with involvement in his church, Love In Action, Full Gospel Businessmen, Kiwanis, Sons of Norway, a member of Trinity Bible College Board and anything Republican.
As sad as we are to lose him, we are happy that he is absent from the body but present with the Lord. His passions were service to God, to family and to his country. To Dad we say, "Mange Tusen Takk."
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lien, Johan and William, and one sister, Mildred.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; three children, Steven and his wife, Gwen, Catherine Smith, and Nancy Davis; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and one sister, Norma Siverson.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 4, at Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel, 13738 W Camino Del Sol, Sun City West, AZ 85375. Burial followed at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be directed to Trinity Bible College Scholarship Fund, 50 S 6th Ave., Ellendale, ND 58436.
