Stop Trying To Defend The Indefensible

Dear Editor:

I would like to respond to parts of the letter by Rev. Susan Watterson on March 25, “An Important Bible Discussion.”

First, she claims St. Paul was really referring to the sexual exploitation of boys by older men and not to homosexuality in general. Not so. In Romans I, Paul says, “Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error.” St. Paul wasn't stupid. He was an experienced man and understood homosexuality for what it was. Homosexuality hasn't changed in 2,000 years. It was the same then as it is now.

Second, Rev. Watterson cites a study showing that 90 percent of child molesters are heterosexual. This is true, but meaningless. Every legitimate study shows that homosexuals make up only approximately 2 percent of the general population (Not that phony 10 percent figure invented by Alfred Kinsey.) This means that 90 percent of the population are heterosexual. So, it stands to reason that the vast majority of child molesters will be heterosexuals. Simple math and common sense prove that. None of this makes homosexuality normal.

Perhaps Rev. Watterson should stop trying to defend the indefensible.
