Phillip Roy Sudbrack

Phillip Roy Sudbrack, 60 passed away Monday, March 23, 2015, at the family farm north of Saco.

He was born April 9, 1954, to Reinhard and Hattie (Iverson) Sudbrack in Glasgow Mont. He grew up on the family farm/ranch being very involved in agriculture at a young age. During his years in Saco schools, he was active in 4-H and FFA, and earned awards in both. He was on the Saco Panther basketball team that earned second place at the State Tournament in 1971. After graduation, he attended Montana State University, returning to Saco to help his parents with the farm/ranch because of his father's failing health. He became the third generation on both his grandparents' homesteads (Iverson in 1909 and Sudbrack in 1910).

On Valentine's Day in 2000, he married Karla Korman in Saco. Together they continued to raise registered Angus cattle at the Heart R Angus Ranch until 2012 and concentrated on raising grain, hay and other crops until his death.

He was a member of the American Angus Association, Montana Stock Growers and, Montana Grain Growers. He did custom farming for the area farmers and ranchers, enjoyed building and/or modifying equipment, as he could fix anything whether it was electrical, plumbing, welding, or carpentry. He was always willing to help anyone solve a problem or mentor young farmers and ranchers. They attended MATE and MAGIE for many years. He enjoyed farm auctions, even if it was to visit. He also enjoyed puzzles and spending time with his nieces and nephews and family gatherings.

He was very active in the Saco Lutheran Church and Prairie Lutheran Parish, holding positions on the church council and helping with many building and repair projects.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Curtis; and his mother-in-law, Alice Korman.

Survivors include his wife, Karla; two sisters, Rene Worley and her husband, Charles, of Wolf Point, Norma Kelly and her husband, Ted, of Malta; two brothers, Cecil Sudbrack and his wife, Sharon, of New Holland, Penn., Dale Sudbrack and his wife, Elena, of Saco; his father-in-law, Ralph Korman of Saco; a sister-in-law, Kathy Anevski and her husband, John, of Billings; a brother-in-law, Jack Korman, of Sanger, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-niece and -nephew.
