Gordon J. Brown, 92, passed away on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at his home in Glasgow, Mont.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 6, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Glasgow. A private burial will be held at a later date.
He was born on July 29, 1922, in Hinsdale, Mont., the son of Howard and Clara Brown. He graduated from Glasgow High School in 1942. Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for three years during World War II in North Africa and the European Theatre. He served at D-Day (2nd Day) and in the Ardennes and Rhineland arriving in Berlin in April 1945.
After the war, he worked as a carpenter/general contractor from 1946 to the time of his death. He was considered a master craftsman who worked on hundreds of homes and businesses in the area.
He married Edna Aitken on July 14, 1946, at the Methodist Church in Glasgow. They have lived their entire lives in Glasgow. He was a life-long member of the VFW, a committed husband and father of four sons. In his work he was well known for his work ethic and honesty. His favorite motto was "Be reasonable, do it my way".
He was preceded in death by two sisters, June Castleberry Coleman and Dot Morrison; and two brothers, Warren Brown and Myron Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Brown of Glasgow; four sons, Harvy Brown of Billings, Gerald Brown and his wife, Linda, of Denver, Colo., Ron Brown of Missoula, and Mike Brown of Glasgow, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.
