Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Florence (Daley) Cecil, 82, a Valley County native, passed away in Richland, Wash., on Friday, Nov 7, 2014, surrounded by family.
She was born to Rose and John Daley on Sept. 9, 1932, on the family homestead north of Nashua in the Spring Valley community. She was delivered by her Aunt Amelia Nelson, and was the youngest of nine Daley children: Leonard, Lester, Glen, Norman, Earl, Doris, Violet and Floyd. Upon the death of her father, she and her mother moved to Glasgow.
Later Albert Brouhard became her stepfather when he married Rose. Florence spent much of her adult life in eastern Washington, marrying Kennard Rasmussen and later Dick Cecil. From these unions she was blessed with three children, Terri Rose, Tanna June and Micky Ross.
She spent much of her working years in the restaurant/supper club business and later in life, spent many years in the lab of a local potato chip company. Her pastimes were tending her flowers, sitting on her deck, listening to her wind chimes and watching birds at her feeders.
She adored her children and grandchildren, and loved attending their activities. She lovingly took her special flowers to her granddaughter's grave, whose life was tragically taken as a teenager.
She was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan, sporting and collecting Seahawks' memorabilia right up until her death. She lived for the last year at Hearthstone in Moses Lake, Wash. and then with her daughter, Tanna.
She was preceded in death by all siblings except for Floyd, who passed three months later, and her precious granddaughter, Jade.
Survivors include two daughters, Terri Moore of Benton City, Wash. and her two sons, Chad and Tyler, and Tanna Gerds and her husband, Rob, of Benton City, and their children, Tim and Candy; one son, Micky Cecil and his wife, Shannon, of Moses Lake, and their daughter, Kali; five great-grandchildren, Karlee, Tanner, Braxton, Omar and Kane; and numerous nieces and nephews, several locally.
