He's A Magic Man

How many of you remember Howell and Ellen Davies? When I first became acquainted with them, they lived in the North Country and worked for the Ruffcorn Ranch.

I remember the first time I was at their home – you got your drink of water from a dipper in a water bucket. Wow, that impressed me. Well, I was pretty young and we didn’t worry about germs much.

The thing that most will remember about Howell Davies was his magic entertainment. He loved to do magic shows any place there might be an audience. I think he might have entertained at the Northeast Montana Fair a time or two.

Howell had a mannequin that usually accompanied him. I can’t recall his name, but I bet someone reading this might be able to tell me. Now, Howell wasn’t the most accomplished magician, but he could really entertain the young and old alike.

Of course, that was before kids were exposed to all of the entertainment of today. I am sure those that do remember him have fond memories.
