Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Building Project In The Works

A Glasgow native has been making trips up to the area as a civil engineer with plans to develop some land just outside Glasgow city limits. Travis West made an appearance at the Valley County Commissioners meeting to get subdivision plans accepted on Skylark Road.

West showed commissioners areas of easement and access road to five lots plotted out near the Ridge Runners Saddle Club building. Some issues on conditions were discussed and the possible need for the property owner to deal with drainage issues on one lot were worked out.

Language was added to the conditions that both parties, the county and the developer would agree on restricted covenants that would deal with junk vehicles and other appearance related issues.

West said that they had plans on beginning development on the lots when spring came, but the developer would have three years after the approval to finish the project.

During the meeting, commissioners also approved the bid for updating the Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan. The previous plan was put in place in 2003. Bids from Tetra Tech out of Helena for $91,500, Beck Consulting out of Red Lodge for $87,745 and Integrated Solutions from West Fargo, North Dakota. The $86,000 bid was awarded to Integrated Solutions as was recommended by the committee. The plan covers Valley, Roosevelt, Daniels and Sheridan counties.

Other issues discussed at the meeting included the approval of a survey for a subdivision on Aitken, Tasha Morehouse being appointed for a three year term on the Valley County Fair Board, and a Milk River Bridge project. Funding could possibly come from funds from a land sale that took place around 10 years ago. The county has to come up with about 50 percent for a matching grant. The topic was added to the upcoming agenda for possible approval.
