Kaycee Jean Hoffbauer

Kaycee Jean (Johnson) Hoffbauer, 55, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, surrounded by her loving family and close friends. She died after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on March 10, 1959, in Glasgow, Mont., to Helen C. (Clark ) and William G. Johnson. She attended grade school at St. Raphael's and Southside Elementary School in Glasgow. She attended high school at Notre Dame High in Powers Lake, N.D., and graduated with high honors from Glasgow Senior High in 1977. While attending Miles Community College in Miles City from 1984-86, she earned a degree in computer science. Afterwards, she moved to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1987. There she married Richard R. Hoffbauer. They were later divorced. They had one daughter, Barbara R. Hoffbauer.

She moved to Arpan, S.D., and later to Newell, S.D.

She was an intelligent, kind, caring, dedicated, hardworking person and a wonderful mother. She loved children and animals, especially horses. Se was an accomplished seamstress who won awards for her various creations. She also enjoyed cooking and baking.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen C. Johnson.

Survivors include her father, William Gail Johnson; three sisters, Kelly J. Rosencrans, Kathy J. Johnson and Kollette A. Johnson; two brothers, Karl O. Johnson and Kevin V. Johnson; many nieces and nephews; one daughter, Barbara R. Hoffbauer; and her special friend, Allen J. Youngberg.

The family invited everyone for fellowship and lunch at St. Paul's Catholic Church following the committal service.
