Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
On the morning of Monday, Sept. 29, Lorraine "Lori" Kaye (Crowley) Nowel, 59, passed away at home after a one-year battle with brain cancer. Her family was caring for her.
She was born April 23, 1955, in Glasgow to Charles and Marie Crowley. She grew up in Glasgow and graduated from Glasgow High School. She graduated from Montana State University in Bozeman (Go Bobcats!) with a BS degree in physical education.
She and her daughter, Lindy, moved to Phoenix, Ariz. In 1988 she married Peter Nowel and added two sons, Luke and Cody, to their family.
She loved all sports, but most of all, football. She knew all the players and stats of most teams, but the Arizona Cardinals were her favorite. She never missed a game and even went to Florida when they played in the Super Bowl. She was one of the original group to organize the "Pat Tillman Run" and continued to support it even after she became ill.
In her journey through life, she met many wonderful people who remained her friends. She considered them as part of her "family."
Her father, Charles Crowley, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Peter Nowel; one daughter, Lindy Vogt and her husband, Ryan; two sons, Luke and Cody Nowel; two grandchildren, Adia and Landon Vogt; her mother, Marie Crowley; a brother, Charles Crowley and his wife, Barbara, of Chinook; four sisters, Gail Soper and her husband, Jim, of Plains, Mont., Toni Lyons of Glendale, Ariz., Beth Keeling and her husband, Ed, of Havre, and Mari Stratton and her husband, Marty, of Havre; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held Monday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church, followed by burial at West Haven Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Pat Tillman Foundation (pattillmanfoundation.org) or a charity of your choice.
