Bennie K. 'Ben' Albus

Bennie Kenneth "Ben" Albus, 92, passed away from natural causes on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow, Mont.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m. at the Hinsdale American Legion Hall in Hinsdale, followed by interment in the Hillview Cemetery in Hinsdale.

He was born on Nov. 13, 1921, in Saco, the son of Joseph and Regina (Bechtold) Albus. He moved with his family in 1928 to their current farm on the Saco Divide. He attended school in Hinsdale where he enjoyed playing football and basketball. He graduated from Hinsdale High School in 1940. After high school he worked in Washington, D.C., for a year for the CCC, after which he moved back to Hinsdale and went to work on the family farm.

On June 28, 1945, he married Erma Christensen in Saco. They lived on the family farm until 1981 when they moved into Hinsdale.

He served on the Valley Electric Board for 36 years, the Cenex Board in Hinsdale for 30 years, and was active with the Assembly of God Church. His real passion was farming.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma; two brothers, John R. Albus and Emil Albus; and a great-grandson, Cole Albus.

Survivors include one son, Loran Albus, and his wife, Sandi, of Hinsdale; two daughters, Ramona Doebler and her husband, Don, of Hinsdale, and Nancy Malnaa and her husband, Rory, of Fromberg, Mont.; five grandchildren: Eric Albus and his wife, Robyn, Jared Albus and his wife, Stacy, of Hinsdale, Mandy Kassel and her husband, Zac, of North Pole, Alaska, and Nathan and Ethan Malnaa of Fromberg; six great-grandchildren, Kyle Albus, Aiden Albus, Walker Albus and Cooper Albus of Hinsdale, and Zaeya Kassel and Zahna Kassel; and many nieces and nephews.

Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.
