Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Diana Charlene (Ziler) Hedegaard, 57, passed away suddenly at her home in Glasgow.
A visitation service will be held Thursday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m., and a Celebration of New Life will take place Friday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m., all at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014.
She was born Dec. 12, 1956, in Hardin, Mont., the third of five children of Laurence and Dena (Moore) Ziler. She spent her early years in Hardin before moving with her family to Lingle, Wyo., and then to Sidney, Mont., where she graduated from Sidney High School in 1975. She married Scott Hedegaard Aug. 2, 1975, and they moved to Missoula where she graduated from the University of Montana in 1980.
Following graduation, she and Scott moved to Savage, Mont., where she was blessed to bear three children – Dena Irene, Celeste Dawn and Emory Scott. In 1992, the family moved to Dubuque, Iowa, where Scott attended seminary, spending their intership year in Stanhope, Iowa. They moved to Harlem in 1996. During their time in Harlem, she took courses at MSU-Northern to pursue her passion for teaching. She served as the science department in schools in Grass Range, Frazer, and Opheim before teaching one year in Glasgow where she has resided since 2005. For several years she was the cross country and track coach in Opheim.
She had a great zest for life. She loved gardening, her house plants, and any living growing thing. She loved the outdoors, especially backpacking, fishing and golf. She loved her family and absolutely adored her grandchildren. She loved the Lord and her church and was an active participant in her congregations and in the Montana Synodical Women's Organization. She loved to share her beautiful voice and she blessed whoever heard her. She loved her students very deeply and served on several statewide boards in education. Mostly she just loved and those who knew her loved her in return.
Survivors include her parents, Laurence and Dena of Sidney; her husband, Scott, of Glasgow; three children, Dena (Raul Guevara) of Kent, Wash., Celeste (Mitch McDonough) of Puyallup, Wash., and Emory (Becky Craighill) of Glasgow; three grandchildren, Lexi, Joh and Estela;, siblings, Kermit (Sandi) Ziler and his wife, Sandi, of Sheridan, Wyo., Linda Karst and her husband, Gary, of Ballantine, Mont., Eileen (Josh Marcoff) Ziler of Billings, and Scott (Lisa) Ziler and his wife, Lisa, of Sidney; her father-in-law, Jim Hedegaard of Billings; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
