Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
A free youth shooting and archery skills event is scheduled for Aug. 27 at the Glasgow Trap Club.
The event – which will include clay pigeon, turkey silhouette and pellet-gun shooting stations, as well as an archery range with 3-D hunting targets -- is open to all youths up to 18 years old.
Due to safety concerns, youths 12 and under can participate in all of the events except ones involving shotgun shooting.
Shotguns, pellet guns, ammunition, targets and archery equipment will be provided at no cost and participants between ages 12 and 18 can bring their own firearms and ammunition if they want. Each station will be fully staffed by qualified instructors.
Youth registration begins onsite at 5 p.m., and the field activities will start at 5:30 p.m. A barbecue dinner is also scheduled, and a variety of prizes will be awarded to participants. The event ends at dark.
The Youth Day activities are co-sponsored by local chapters of Ducks Unlimited and the National Wild Turkey Federation, as well as the Glasgow Trap Club and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks. Additional volunteer helpers are invited to attend.
The Glasgow Trap Club is located off Skylark Road on the west side of Glasgow toward the Sunnyside Golf & Country Club.
