Robert Lee Irwin

Robert Lee Irwin, 53, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, in a work-related accident in Glasgow, Mont.

Services will be held Monday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m., at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow with Pastors Scott Hedegaard and Jay Ashbaucher officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.

He was born Dec. 8, 1960, in Glasgow, the son of Louis Irwin Sr. and Mildred (Schakosky) Irwin. He was raised in Glasgow and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1980, enjoying participation in track and field.

He worked at various local ranches during his teenage years. After graduation, he started working at Fossum Ready Mix where he worked under the direction of Larry Oliver until Larry's death when he took over operations of the Wash Plant.

His job was very important to him, he was very knowledgeable and he knew how to fix just about anything. He was always willing to help others.

On Dec. 2, 1995, he married Sally Nelson at Lake Tahoe, Nev. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and participated in several men's church groups.

He enjoyed traveling to different locations and exploring their local histories and cultures. He was also a gracious host and guide to his many Louisiana friends on their Montana hunting vacations. He enjoyed visiting with everyone, and especially his Breakfast Club friends.

He was a loving husband and a very loving and devoted uncle. He valued his family and friendships above all. He touched the lives of many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mildred Irwin Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Irwin, of Glasgow; siblings, Linda Eagler and her husband, Charlie, of Grand Junction, Colo., Laura Straight and her husband, Kim, of Thorne Bay, Alaska, Donna Barrows of Phoenix, Ariz., Kenny Irwin of North Dakota, John Beck of Quartzsite, Ariz., and Glasgow, and Albert Irwin and his wife, Evangeline, of Minot, N.D .; and several nieces and nephews.
