Lorin Edward Flesjer, 69, died at home and went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, July 5, 2014, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's Disease. We will miss our intelligent, fun-loving, friendly, beloved grandpa, father, and husband.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. A Funeral Service was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor Stan Hoobing officiating.
A graveside service was held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 11, at the Highland Cemetery in Glasgow, with a reception to follow at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow.
Lorin Edward Flesjer was the oldest son of Lloyd and Gladys (Stensland) Flesjer born on Dec. 1, 1944, in Glasgow. He was raised on the family homestead in Tampico, with a couple years spent in Kalispell and Washington. He went to school in a two-room building in Tampico with his cousins.
He attended high school in town and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1963. He attended Billings Business College in Billings, Mont., for two years where he met Lilla (Flugge). They married at the Buffalo Community Church in Buffalo, Mont., on June 11, 1966. They lived in Glasgow where he ran the movie theater and was the office manager for Terry Chevrolet. Then he was hired by the State of Montana to work as an auditor where he worked with counties, cities, towns and school districts. In 1971, the couple moved to Glendive where they raised their family of two children. Lorin worked as an auditor for the State of Montana for 35 years. He traveled all over Montana and really focused on helping the people by working in Eastern Montana. He was well trained in record retention and storage. Later, he studied and received his administrator's license in Hospital Administration.
He loved the Lord and served as a deacon at Zion Lutheran Church. He was part of many committees at Zion Lutheran Church over the years, most recently serving on the Memorial Committee. He helped Dawson County and the community of Glendive by serving on the Urban Transportation Board for 18 years, acting as the chairperson for much of that time.
After retiring in 2005, he enjoyed golfing, spending time visiting family, including trips to Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Washington and Nevada. He enjoyed collecting things and in the last years he collected stamps.
He was preceded in going to glory by his father, Lloyd Flesjer, in 1988, and his mother, Gladys Flesjer, in 2008.
Survivors include his wife, Lilla (Flugge) Flesjer, of Glendive; one daughter, Lisa (Flesjer) Seekins and her husband, David, and their sons, Noah (15) and Colton (12) of Minneapolis, Minn., and Larry Flesjer and his wife, Nicole (Brattin), and their children, Alexiss (7), Grayson (4), and Zander (6 months ) of Miles City; one brother, Gail Flesjer and his wife, Edina (Thogersen), of Glendive.
