Stella Marie Fauth

Stella Marie Fauth, 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, surrounded by her family at the Hi-Line Retirement Center in Malta.

She was born on Jan. 2, 1933, at her parent's home in Hinsdale, Mont., to Oliver and Fannie Bucher. In 1936, because of the opportunity to work on the Fort Peck Dam project, the family moved to New Deal, Mont. On Sept. 22, 1938, at the age of five, her father was one of the eight workers who lost their lives in the slide. He is one of six, forever entombed in the dam. The family then moved to Glasgow where Stella completed her education, graduating in 1952 as a Glasgow Scottie, something she reminded her family of from time to time.

Shortly after graduation she married a young marine, Harry Fauth, the love of her life, that also happened to be her Sunday School teacher. (We are sure she was the teacher's pet.) She and Harry were married June 25, 1952, making their home eventually in Larslan where they raised nine children. After many years of working in the Larslan community, actively involved in various churches, and postmaster at the Larslan Post Office, she and Harry retired to Malta to be near family.

Even retired, she remained active, involved in the church and attending as many "grandkid" functions as possible. She loved her family, reading her Bible, attending church and the Gospel Jamboree. She was a gracious host to all who entered her home and was famous for her "Twists," a perfected sugar cookie. She always seemed to be such a quiet lady, but when she prayed, all of Heaven listened.

On June 1, 2010, Harry went home to be with Jesus. Having lost the love of her life, Stella showed the strength that comes from God, loving her family and those around.

In 2012, she moved to the Country Home until the fall of 2013 when she moved to Hi-Line Retirement Center.

One very special blessing she enjoyed for the last 12 years was her sister moving to Malta. Doris and Stella were together as much as possible and were not only sisters but best friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her children: Shirley Vickhammer and her husband, Rusty, Jim Fauth and his wife, Nancy, Doug Fauth and his wife, Mary, Darlene Boothe and her husband, Mark, Emanuel Fauth and his wife, Brynda, Tami Christofferson and her husband, Ross, Becki Sorenson, Paul Fauth and his wife, Sarah, and Melodee Kavanaugh and her husband, Sean; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren soon to be joining the family in June and August; one sister, Doris Poor; two brothers, Clarence Bucher and Russell Bucher; one brother-in law, Vern Fauth; and one sister-in-law, Aldina Carroll; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Sunday, May 18, at the Kirkwood Memorial Chapel. Funeral services were at May 19, at the Malta Assembly of God Church. Interment was in the Malta Cemetery.
