Young Ice Dawgs Fourth At State
This past weekend the Ice Dawg Squirts battled in the Squirt B State Tournament.
Playing a strong Bozeman team, Glasgow relied on its defense of Ian Peterson, Jack Cornwell, Tori Pehlke, Brooklyn Schmidt, Kylie Lagerquist and Klaire Krumweide. Despite Bozeman scoring seven goals, the Ice Dawgs never gave up. Colter Barnett scored the loan goal, assisted by Michael Hoyer.
Kalispell came out fast scoring 6 goals in the 1st period. Barnett scored to get Glasgow on the board. Kalispell added 5 more. Tatum Provencher, relentless with rebounds, scored on the assist from Cornwell. Barnett would add another goal in the 3rd but Kalispell earned the win.
In an evenly matched game against Missoula, Barnett scored 30 seconds in and quickly added another. Missoula tied the game in the 2nd. Missoula took the lead in the 3rd and it was a hard fought battle back. Running out of time, Morgan Fast had the assist to Barnett’s hat trick. That goal would put Glasgow into the consolation final game.
In a tense match with Great Falls, each volleyed for the lead. Glasgow worked well together and were finding success.
The offense of Andre Perkins, Dylan Hlad, Provencher, Hoyer, Fast, Aidin Wilkowski, Shanice Lagerquist and Gage Siefert worked hard. Barnett scored 5 in the match with Pehlke making an assist.
Glasgow came close in the 7-5 loss. Gage Iman made 93 saves in the tournament. The Squirts came away with a fourth place finish for the tournament and can hold their heads high on a great season.
