Glasgow Storms Back In Second Half To Remain Perfect
The Scottie boys basketball team appears to be firing on all cylinders, but the torrid pace that they've been on may come to a screeching halt.
Not by an opponent waiting on their schedule, but lack thereof.
Glasgow enters winter break and won't have another game until Jan. 3.
Closing out their remaining two games before hitting the break, Glasgow hosted Sidney Friday night. Sidney proved to be a formidable challenge for the Scotties. Glasgow went into halftime only leading by four. To make matters worse, Sidney entered the second half with a 7-0 run to take the lead over the Scotties, something the home crowd isn't quite used to.
Glasgow didn't let the deficit last for long however. With the game close heading toward the waning minutes of the fourth, Glasgow found some big buckets at the hands of Keil Krumwiede and Jason Thibault. Both hit keep shots down the stretch that gave Glasgow just enough breathing room to secure the victory.
Glasgow head coach Norm Braaten pointed out that it took a full team effort to come out with the win at home.
"We had some kids tonight that did not play to the capabilities," said Braaten. "The rest of the team came in and picked them up."
The physical game with Sidney was not something Braaten had hoped for, especially with Glasgow's first conference game the following night against Wolf Point.
Glasgow came out on fire on both sides of the ball and jumped out to a 22 point lead after the first quarter when they lead 25-3. The lead didn't grow much before half, but Glasgow had all but sealed the victory by then going into the locker room with a 35-12 lead.
The Scotties added 14 points apiece for the final two quarters and coasted to a 63-30 victory over Wolf Point.
The Scotties are now 5-0 on the season and are looking forward to the holiday break to allow some minor bumps and bruises heal. Glasgow will return to the court Jan. 3 at Glendive.
