After Showing Roundup Who The Top Dog Is, Glasgow Has Its Sights On Baker
The Glasgow boys team wasted no time picking up where they left off from last season as they beat Roundup, 73-33.
The Scotties led 41-13 at halftime and put the game in cruise control during the second half. Roundup was held to single digits in scoring in three of the four quarters by a tenacious Scottie defense.
"For the first game of the year we were pleased with everything that went on," said Scotties head coach Norm Braaten.
Leading all scorers for the Scotties was senior Lane Herbert with 21 points. Herbert missed his junior season with an injury and Braaten and his teammates were excited to see Lane return to old form.
"We're excited to have him back," Braaten said. "Lane's a quality shooter, he gives us an outside threat and it kind of completes everything that we need."
After the game, Herbert was just relieved to finally get the first game out of the way.
"I was just hoping coming off of my first game that I would have a pretty decent game and I did," said Herbert. "A few of my shots wouldn't have happened if it weren't for some back screens. It was a team effort [against Roundup]."
With the first win of the season on the board, Braaten and the Scotties are now preparing for their next game against Baker.
"They'll be a very physical team and return a lot of kids," Braaten said. "Our kids are looking forward to it because we lost to them this year in football and I think paybacks are wanted."
Braaten said that as long as his team does the things they're supposed to, they should come out victorious on Friday.
"We're going to put pressure on them, and if they can handle it then we'll try something else," Braaten said. "We'll find something they can't do."
