Laurella "Rally" Barbara (Werner) Shafer, 78, of Poplar, Mont., died from natural causes Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at her home in Poplar.
She was born on Oct. 21, 1935, to Luella Martha Buegler and Alvin Arthur Werner in Poplar.
She married Leonard Palmer Shafer in November 1953 and from this union, Len, Debra, and Laurie Shafer were born.
She spent most of her life in Superior, Mont., and Poplar, where she held various jobs. Her most memorable were the Buckhorn Bar and Café as well as being a mother to her children and nana to her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, being outdoors, and spending time with her family and friends. She lived a full life and always lived her life putting the interests of family ahead of her own.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Shafer, in September, 1972; her parents, Luella and Alvin Werner; two siblings, Floyd and Vivian Werner; one son, Len Shafer; and one uncle, Jack Werner.
Survivors include two children, Debra and Laurie; four siblings, Lawrence Werner and his wife, Bonnie, Delores Baker and her husband, Earl, Beverly Burrowes and her husband, Keith, and Marlin Werner and his wife, Priscilla; eight grandchildren, Toni, Rick, Jodi, Beau, Melissa, Alicia, Len Jr, Cassandra; numerous great-grandchildren; and friends whom she loved very much as she was cared for and adored by all who knew her; special friends, Jake (the Snake) Hansen and Boyd Clark; the Marrotek family (Frank and Mert), and the Diserly family.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point, followed by a remembrance gathering at the Buckhorn Café.
Bell Mortuary of Glasgow was in charge of arrangements.
