Some more on the little groceries. It is always such a pleasant surprise to get phone calls and letters on subjects and certainly want to share them at some time or another. Received a letter the other day that helped me remember a couple of other small grocers in Glasgow.
Do you remember our first “warehouse grocery,” which was located in the present Gallery Gifts building? The reader remembers the various chocolate bars that were stocked near the door.
Then there was Eddie's Quick Stop, right close to the railroad track crossing and prior to Clansman Café. He also remembered one around 11th Street South, run by Alice Diesen, as well as a little store, maybe run out of the individual's garage or a small building, located close to Bill's One Stop where said reader purchased penny candy.
Wow, one small memory can lead to a lot of other thoughts. Like just where Eddie's Quick Stop, The Clansman and Bill's One Stop were actually located. I'll look for a new subject next week. Maybe Thanksgiving memories if anyone has some they would like to share.
