Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Longtime Flaxville resident, Dale M. Fishell Jr., 88, died Nov 10, 2013, at the Sheridan Memorial Nursing Home in Plentywood. He had been a resident at the nursing home for the past several months.
There will be a memorial service at a future date.
He was born May 29, 1925, in Outlook, Mont., to Dale and Elizabeth (Crossen) Fishell. He grew up with an older sister, Mercedene, and brothers Victor and Harry in Redstone. He attended school in Redstone, graduating from high school in 1943.
After high school, he started farming with his father in the Wolf Creek area. On July 10, 1948, he married Evelyn Bedwell, and they had three sons. He continued farming with his brother, Harry, until he made the decision to retire from farming in 1975.
During this time, he enjoyed driving the Flaxville school bus and taking tickets for various sporting and social events. During the winter months he could frequently be found tending bar in one of the Flaxville bars.
He always looked forward to celebrating St. Patrick's day, the one day he indulged with a green beer or two. Dale was known to have an interest in restoring old vehicles, and when he was finished with them they looked and ran like new. He could regularly be found at the local CENEX station catching up on what was happening, of course giving his opinion, and having a candy bar and a Pepsi. He loved his dogs.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; an infant sister; and both of his brothers.
Survivors include three sons, Dale and his wife, Marla, of Honolulu, Hawaii, Royce and his wife, Linda, of Denver, Colo., and Kelly and his wife, Kerry, of Flaxville; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew; and one sister, Mercedene Fishell of Plentywood.
Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.
