Leonard Q. Galston

Leonard Q. Galston, 57, died at 4 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, due to complications from a malignant brain tumor.

A celebration of life will be held at the Assembly of God Church in Glasgow at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, with an after party to follow later in the afternoon. Condolences can be sent to his home at 1014 2nd Ave. South in Glasgow.

He was born March 13, 1956, to Duncan and Betty Galston (Abern) in Glasgow, Mont. He graduated from Glasgow High School in 1974.

On Nov. 18, 1978, he married Valerie Rothwell. They had a son, Deron Galston, on April 14, 1982. He and Valerie were divorced in 1995, but remained friends until she passed away in 2001.

He spent his early years working construction and doing janitorial work. In 1987, he started working in the grocery business and did so for 15 years. In 2003, he began working at Ezzie's Westend, where he kept working until May 2013, before he was diagnosed with brain cancer. He rarely missed work and anyone that knew him would say he was a very hard worker. There was always a big "Howdy" for anyone who came into anyplace he worked.

His passion in life was music. He was known throughout the community as a go-to guy for all kinds of music. The vinyl record collection he amassed over the years would make anyone's jaw drop if they saw it. He loved making mix tapes and CDs for anyone that asked. Sharing his music was always as good as getting new music. He was also a master at crossword puzzles, liked to write poetry and short stories, was an avid reader and a diehard Cubs and Steelers fan.

Survivors include one son, Deron Galston of Glasgow; Aunt Mary Cilz of Glasgow; Uncle Jim Moseley of Whitefish; four cousins, Larry Tade, Jerry Tade, Debbie Tade and Vickie Tade Beaulieu; two nephews, Mitch Sonsteng and Ron Logan; two nieces, Diane Galston and Deana Sonsteng-Wolf; along with many more friends and family.
