Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Adeline J. L. Estenson, 80, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow, Mont.
She was born April 28, 1933, in Scobey, Mont., the daughter of Bert and Mabel (Nortstrom) Estenson. The family moved to Fort Peck in 1934 and then to Peerless where she began her first year of schooling. Then the family moved to North Hinsdale where she finished her schooling.
She worked at the Marette Rest Home in Helena for years till she had a carnival accident that left her with a bad leg. She moved to Great Falls and lived there till she moved to Nemont Manor in Glasgow in 1982, one of the first to move in. She was very active, helping the cooks in the dining room and other things around Nemont.
She was an active worker, enjoyed painting pictures by number on velvet and many hooked rugs. She had a great connection with chickens as a child and she made pets of them. When chickens would see her coming, they would squat down for her to pet them. She belonged to the Assembly of God Church.
Everyone loved her laugh and singing, she sang with her whole heart. The nephews and nieces called her the M & M Aunty; she always had M & M’s.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Edwin; a sister-in-law, Edel; and one nephew, Mark Estenson.
Survivors include one sister, Eunice Mattfeldt, and her husband, Jim, of Hinsdale; two brothers, Milton Estenson of Sandia, Texas, and Ralph Estenson of Peoria, Ill .; a sister-in-law, Betty Estenson, of Walla Walla, Wash .; many nieces and nephews; and one cousin, Gloria Wessler, of Nashua.
