Red And White Scrimmage Ends Up In A Tie, 7-7

Glasgow High School's annual Red & White football scrimmage ended up in a 7-7 tie on Friday, Aug. 30.

Fans gathered in the stands at Scottie Field to have a look at this season’s team and were not disappointed. The coaching staff mixed up the varsity and junior varsity teams, offering a close and entertaining game.

The game between the Reds and Whites was played in three periods: two of 15 minutes and one of five minutes, for a total of 35 minutes. The coaching staff wanted to see the kids play, never called a timeout and even skipped the regular halftime.

The first touchdown came early in the first period by the Whites. On a long pass from the 50-yard line, quarterback Keil Krumweide found his receiver, Chase Fossum, on the 30-yard line. After a great catch, Fossum outran the defense and scored an easy touchdown. Tanner Roness converted the extra point kick.

The crowd was pleased and looking for more, but at this point it seemed like the Whites might dominate.

However, the Reds got back in the game with some impressive offense and defense of their own.

After getting scored on so early in the game, the Reds show ed what they could do. They took control of the game, forcing the Whites to punt two times in the first period.

Finally, with four minutes left in the first, the Reds found their way to the end zone. Fifteen yards from the goal line, QB Jason Thibault threw to his left and connected with receiver Skyler Fisher. A diving touchdown was the result. Roness, kicking for both teams, was good on the extra point and the score was 7-7.

The Reds controlled possession much of the rest of the game, but the Whites were still dangerous with their ground game.

However, no team would get close enough to even smell the end zone. The score would not change.

The Scottie Froshmores will face Glendive at Scottie Field this Friday, Sept. 6 at 4 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7 in the season opener.
