Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Ducks Unlimited members from across the Big Sky State – America and Canada, too – are expected in Glasgow this weekend for the 2013 Montana DU State Convention.
The award-winning Missouri/Milk River DU chapter will host, and a block of rooms is reserved for attendees at The Cottonwood Inn & Suites.
Convention organizers have promoted world class fishing at Fort Peck Lake, suggesting that visitors wrap a few days around the convention go after some of the big walleye and northern pike.
Activities begin Friday afternoon. The agenda:
Friday
1 to 5 p.m. – State Council meets.
6 to 9 p.m. – Missouri/Milk River Duck Fever Sportsman’s Night Out.
9 p.m. – Festivities begin in the Reloading Room. Those bringing a bottle will be entered into a drawing for a shotgun. Those who bring wild game snack food will have a chance to win prizes.
Saturday
8:30 a.m. to noon – Conservation presentations will show how the dollars that DU raises are put to work. Presenters will represent the DU Great Plains Regional Office, DU national headquarters and DU Canada.
Noon to 1 p.m. – lunch.
1 to 4 p.m. – Free time. Here’s a chance for convention goers to shoot trap, hen hunt, go sightseeing, visit with friends or just take a nap.
4 to 5:30 p.m. – Cocktails for Conservation. The focus will be on why major donors are vital to DU’s conservation mission.
6 to 10 p.m. – State convention banquet.
10 p.m. – Back to the Reloading Room.
