Jean Marilyn Kallem

Jean Marilyn (Bulock) Kallem, 80, died of heart failure on Friday, June 28, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Glasgow, followed by interment in the Highland Cemetery in Glasgow.

She was born Dec. 25, 1932, to Otto Clyde and Leona Pearl Bulock in Glentana, Mont. She grew up in Glentana with seven siblings. She was the oldest child out of eight.

She married Clifford Kallem at Broadview, Mont., on Dec. 12, 1949. She was a farm wife in the Larslan community until her husband’s death on July 7, 1969. She moved into Glasgow and began a career as a nurse’s aide. She retired after 25 years and began home health and ironing for extra income.

She loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a very crafty person. She did some very beautiful handiwork that was appreciated by family and friends. She loved to fish and garden. She always enjoyed playing games, especially with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Kallem; one son, Calvin Kallem of Kalispell; long-time companion Louie Schafer; four sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include five children, Chester Kallem and his wife, Terrie, of Ulm, Mont., Leslie Kallem and his wife, Terri, of Bozeman, Marilyn Maurer and her husband, Fred, of Rapid City, S.D., Marketta Turner and her husband, Paul, of Glasgow, and Kristi Helmick and her husband, Richard, also of Glasgow; one brother, Donald Bulock, of Illinois; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.
