Irvin Neil Stahl

Irvin Neil Stahl, 84, beloved dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother and uncle, was escorted into heaven Tuesday, June 11, 2013, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

A Celebration of life for Irvin Stahl will be held Saturday, June 22, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Glasgow, followed by a luncheon. Interment will follow at the Lawndale Cemetery in Opheim.

He was born July 31, 1928, at the “Good” homestead near Richland, Mont., to Harry and Ruth (Lasater) Stahl. He attended school in Opheim until his junior year of high school, in which he was needed at home to work on the farm.

At the age of 17, he met Jean Stratton, and they were married June 2, 1947, in Glasgow at the Methodist Church.

He lived and worked in Valley County all his life, except for seven months in which he worked in Alaska. Eventually he and Jean settled on the Stahl homestead southwest of Richland, and raised their family of six children.

He was an antique collector from the time he was a boy and enjoyed working his vegetable garden year after year, but his priority was always his family. He had a way of making each one feel like his favorite.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64½ years, two brothers and a grandson.

Survivors include six children: three sons, Ronald and Terry Stahl of Billings, Richard and Sue Stahl of Glasgow, and Rance and Clara Stahl of Billings; and three daughters, Bonnie and Mike Lackner of Glasgow, Cindy and John Brady of Billings, and Becki and Brian Johnston of Hinsdale; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters; two brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
