Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
A pair of Raiders scored the only points for area schools at the Class C State Meet in Laurel on Friday and Saturday.
Fresh off a five-event sweep at districts and divisionals, Bethany Lacock ran into some tough competition from the other parts of the state. She was still able to place in three events, scoring all 10.33 points for the Lady Raiders, but did not take gold in any.
Lacock, a junior, was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 16.43 seconds. She took home the bronze in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, and tied with two others for sixth in the pole vault at 8- 6.
Lacock’s total was good enough for the 17th best team mark.
Dallas Capdeville, only a sophomore, scored four points, the boys’ only tallies at the two-day meet, with a fourth-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 12 feet, 6 inches. That was the same mark as three others, but how many attempts each vaulter needed to clear that mark separated the placements.
Capdeville’s four points tied Hinsdale for 31st in the team scores.
Charlo took home the title with 62 points, followed by Belt’s 48 and Victor at 35.
Superior won the girls’ side with 58 points. Seeley-Swan was second with 46 and North Star had 41.
