Eastern C Divisional Goes Off In Sidney

Nashua Sends Five To State; Lustre, Frazer Each Qualify One

Four of the five Nashua qualifiers placed in two events, Lustre’s Gabby Pierre was impressive on her own, placing in three events and Frazer’s Daniel Horsman placed in one in Sidney to punch their tickets to state.

On Wednesday, May 15, Porcupine Lane Nickels took home bronze in both the long runs, finishing the 1,600-meter in 4:42.6 and the 3,200 in 10:55.1. Ryan Padden was third in the 200 with a time of 24.3 and sixth in the 400 at 56.3. Sean Bengochea had a similar day with a bronze in the shot put, heaving the shot 43- 2.75, and was sixth in the discus, tossing a 114- 9. The Porcupines rounded out the day with a third place in the long relay, finishing in 3:51.4

As a team, the Porcupines finished in seventh with 34 points.

For the Lady Porcupines, Faith Key continued the dual-event effort with a third in the javelin, tossing a mark of 96 feet, 0 inches. She followed that with a sixth in the discus, heaving an 85- 5. Madison Sibley punched her ticket by running the 300 hurdles in 56.20, scoring a fifth. That gave the Lady Porcupines nine points, good enough for 13th as a team.

Impressively, Lustre’s Gabby Pierre scored the Lady Lions 12 points on her own, place the Lustre girls in 11th. She grabbed third in the 100 with a time of 14 flat. She then followed that with a fourth in the 200, finishing in 29.50, and a fifth in the long jump, leaping 14- 4.

Frazer’s Daniel Horsman was the lone Bearcub to place, finishing the 800 in 2:11.1, good enough for fourth.
