A young team, the Glasgow Reds B team found some confidence after their last road trip to Sidney and beat Glendive in a pair of games on Saturday.
The Reds, led by starting pitcher Keil Krumwiede, beat Glendive 10-3 in their first contest on Saturday and then came back to win 9-6 in the night cap.
"Confidence was a big thing for a lot of us," said Krumwiede.
And confidence in Krumwiede grew with each strike out on Saturday, as he racked up 11 Ks in 4.1 innings of work. Krumwiede also only walked one and allowed three hits in his outing.
"He threw well," said Head Coach Jack Sprague. "He did really well getting ahead in the count, getting guys down in the count, and then just throwing it by them."
The performance was a big improvement over Krumwiede's previous outing in Sidney, where he walked five batters. Krumwiede wasn't the only one to progress, according to Sprague.
The two games "went a lot better than last week," he said.
There were some small issues that they need to clean up, but overall it was a big improvement.
"Considering it was one week, the progression was good. It jumped a lot and it resulted in two wins."
The Blue Devils scored first in game one, crossing two in the first. Glasgow answered with two of their own in the top of the third before Glendive took the lead again with a run in the bottom half. But Glasgow scored three in the fourth to take the lead for good, scoring four more in the fifth. Johnathon Koesll led the way at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a triple and four RBIs. He also scored twice. Krumwiede earned the win for the Reds. Dylan Guttenberg relieved Krumwiede, throwing 2.2 innings of shutout ball, striking out two and walking one.
In the second game, Gage Legare got the rock for the Reds. He threw four innings, struck out two, walked two and allowed one earned. He received the win as his offense gave him more than enough support, scoring eight runs in the first. This time, Krumwiede, fresh off the dominating start on the mound, showed off his skills at the plate, ending only a triple shy of the cycle, in only five innings, on 3-for-3 from the dish. He drove in one and scored twice.
Jake Page finished the five-inning game with one inning of work. Errors cost Page as he gave up four runs, but only one earned. He struck out one and walked one.
