Cross Country runners from Frazer, Hinsdale and Nashua started their 2024 season Aug. 30 at the Wolf Point XC Invitational. None of the teams fielded enough competitors to qualify for a team score. Frazer Girls Brianna Beston paced the Bearcubs with a 17th place showing, out of 45 runners, and a 26:28.34 time. Noli Sibley ran a 33:26.81 for 41st place and Elli Mail finished in 43rd at 34:45.11. The 2024 Ryder Cup is in the books and GLASGOW SUNNYSIDE MEN came out victorious over Malta 30-18. Ryder Cup is a 27-hole event that features 9 holes, 2 person best ball / 9 holes 2 person alternate shot and 9 holes individual match play. Last Friday, Malta’s Jim Fauth set out to stock his freezer with salmon from Fort Peck Reservoir. He did, just not in the way he was expecting. By the end of his fishing expedition with his wife Nancy and friends Tony and Emily Simonsen, Jim landed a fish of a lifetime; a state record-setting Chinook salmon that officially weighed in at 32.62 pounds by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. The Thunder had a prime showing at their Divisional Meet in Glendive July 20 and 21 with three first places, seven second place showings and 11 third place finishes. The Reds attended the MT Legion East A District Tournament in Glendive last week where their season came to an end with losses to Miles City and the Billings Blue Jays. Glasgow fell 11-5 to the Miles City Mavericks July 25 in the opening round of the tourney. The Reds lost 6-1 to the Blue Jays the following day. Glasgow completed the season with a 14-23 record. The Inaugural Cade Myrick Memorial Match Play golf tournament wrapped up last weekend at Sunnyside Country Club. This unique event, featured 32 Men and eight Women competing in two separate divisions, spanning over a six-week period. Match play is a form of play where a player competes directly against an opponent in a head-to-head match. The Glasgow Reds defeated the Glendive Blue Devils but fell to the Laurel Dodgers and the Miles City Mavericks in their final week of the regular season. Glasgow holds a 14-21 record heading into the postseason this week at the District Tournament in Glendive. The Reds downed the Blue Devils, 10-9 and 3-2, at home July 17.
