Hi-Line Sportsmen are reducing at least one barrier to participation in hunting: helping defray the costs of commercial processing of harvested venison. The Glasgow-based conservation group will underwrite the cost of processing venison for hunters in financial need. The Glasgow Ice Dawgs won their home opener doubleheader against the Bozeman Ice Dogs. Glasgow cruised to an easy 9-2 win Saturday night and an 8-1 victory Sunday morning. The Glasgow Bantams started off this season with 13 players for the annual Damon McLaughlin Tournament in Sidney. The Scotties took a loss in the first round to the Fairfield Eagles before falling to the Wolf Point Wolves in loser-out action. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ Havre hunter check station was active over the weekend of general deer and elk opener (Oct. 21-22), with the number of hunters checked the highest in recent history.
